83rd Annual Academy Awards – Oscar 2011 Winners and Best Photos
83rd Annual Academy Awards

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards were held at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles. The best films of 2010 were honored in this gala event. Anne Hathaway and James Franco co-hosted the ceremony. The red carpet rolled out with crackling champagne and omnipresent paparazzi. One of the biggest world event was broadcasted live in 200 countries.
The King’s Speech and The Social Network were the front runners for the best movie. The Kings Speech, a drama about a stammering King nabbed four oscars namely Best Picture, Best Screenplay for David Seidler, Best Actor and Best Director for Tom Hooper much to the chagrin of Social Network makers which was apparently snubbed. However it did well in three categories? but fell under the spell of The King’s Speech.
Colin Firth as British Ruler George VI in “The King’s Speech” grabbed the best actor prize and Natalie Portman bagged the best actress from “Black Swan.” Christian Bale as a boxer-turned-drug-addict and Melissa Leo won the best supporting actor and best supporting actress award. Inception also bagged four awards in the technical category.
The Oscar show was notoriously dull with boring mound of insipid jokes. James Franco and Anne Hathaway are really not comedians. The finale act was children’s choir that send the mundane audience to sleep. Luckily the stellar performance of “Over The Rainbow” turned out to be awesome.
What we love the most is Fashion, Fashion and Fashion. The live blogging and tweets with compendium of comments from the best dressed to the worst dressed damsels.
Definitely a snooze fest like this needs fixing. The future producers need to hire good hosts and should get rid of the badgering red carpet interviewers. It was great when Bob Hope hosted the event 19 times.
